The Nigerian cattle breeders association of Nigeria ,MACBAN,has given conditions to stop open grazing in south east.

This was made known by the south east chairman of miyetti allah Alhaji Gidado Siddiki,in a response to a call by the former national chairman of PDP Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo on the state houses of assembly in the south east Nigeria, to make an anti-grazing law in their respective States in the south east.

Gidado said that, “we are not opposing banning of open grazing in the south, but the governors must first provide an alternative to us”, if not the banning of open grazing will remain ineffective.

He said that they against open grazing banning, but that the public hearing on constitution review should give all parties the right to make their own suggestion and submission for the law against open grazing.

Gidado they were not given chance to go for the constitution review public hearing “we went there, but nobody paid attention to us,and we did not submit a petition”. he said.

He also mentioned that the south east leaders have not provided a ranching for them,as an alternative for the herders to do their business, that is why the banning of open grazing especially in the south east will remain ineffective.

He therefore, urged the governors and leaders of the south east, to help provide them ranches so as to stop the herders and farmers problem
